Date My Mate brings friend-powered dating to the Lounge Bar at The Greenwood Hotel in North Sydney, live and in person. A single person is pitched by their best mate to a room of other singles, in a short slide deck about why they are a catch. Two single friends can also come as a pair and pitch each other. The room watches every pitch across the night in two rounds, with a bar break in the middle, then everyone mingles over drinks. There are no apps, no profiles and no swiping, just a warm, theatrical and genuinely fun night. The format took off in London and has since been covered by Reuters, CNN and The Guardian. Guests can come to pitch a mate, to be pitched, or simply to enjoy the show. It suits singles and their friends from their mid-twenties to around forty.
