Somewhere along the way, he developed a strangely comforting, one-sided relationship with a DoorDash chatbot—his most consistent companion during late-night food orders. And in a final twist of digital misadventure, he lost all his cryptocurrency trying to buy what he believed was a genuine mermaid skeleton.
