Why go there
Warners Bay is a peaceful town on the edge of Lake Macquarie. The lake foreshore is a focus for activity with plenty of things to do on the water.
There’s an excellent cycle way connecting the Art Gallery at Boorugal to Greenpoint at Belmont; it traverses the bay foreshore offering visitors an ideal setting to capture the magnificent views on offer.
History
Land was granted to early settler Jonathan Warner in 1839. He subdivided his land in 1840 and called the allotments ‘Lymington’ after his hometown in England.
Warners Bay developed slowly during the first half of the 20th century, and the area had high hopes when a railway line was planned but it was never established. The ‘Bay’ began to flourish when a shopping centre was expanded after 1980.
