Why go there
Surfing is the big attraction here, particularly for Malibu board riders. Crescent Head has one of the best right-hand point breaks in the world, and the town is one of the hot spots of international surfing.
Bushwalking and camping are popular in Hat Head National Park, which lies just to the north.
History
The area was not settled until the 1950s, when its potential as a holiday destination was first recognised. Since the town lies at the very end of the road from Kempsey, only visitors who are well aware of its natural assets are inclined to visit, even today.

- Hire a Malibu board in town and hit the surf.
- Spend the night under the stars in the camping area at Point Plomer.
- Tackle the bushwalking trails in Limeburners Creek Nature Reserve.
Events
- The Malibu Classic in May is the biggest amateur Malibu competition in the country, with events for all ages. It also attracts some of the big names of the surfing world.
