Beaches and surf
The vibe:
With waves as cool as its lifestyle, Sydney beaches are great for surfing, people-watching and plenty of outdoor fun. Learn to surf, scuba dive or sail in some of the most famous waterways in Australia - at beaches such as Bondi, Manly, Palm Beach and Coogee or on Sydney Harbour. Sydney has 350km of coastline with bays, surf and harbour beaches for visitors and locals to explore.
Don't miss
- Let’s Go Surfing will show you how to ride the waves at Bondi Beach - this is one of the best places to check out both surf and vibes at the same time.
- Hit the surf at Manly Beach, check in for a lesson from local experts at the surf school or head for Freshwater Beach Baths, a secluded pool set into the rocks just north of Manly.
- Follow the coastal walk from Bronte to Coogee, checking out waves along the way. Don’t miss the cool crowd at Tamarama Beach.
- Swim, snorkel and surf at Palm Beach, location of TV show ‘Home and Away’ and the most northerly of Sydney’s beaches.
- Coogee is a popular eastern suburbs beach where you can learn to surf, snorkel and dive at one of Sydney’s top dive spots.
