In 1790 the Hawkesbury River became the lifeline of trade between the farming communities and the struggling colony at Sydney Cove. Trade flourished during the 19th Century and then declined as roads developed. The riverboat postman carries the daily needs to the river population, mail, milk and groceries. You'll spend hours enjoying the life of the river trade and see the wonderful scenery that only the Hawkesbury River can offer. The skipper will provide you with a knowledgeable commentary about historical features.

This popular tour is now operating on a new boat with a new company! Hawkesbury Cruises has warmly welcomed cruisers young and young-at-heart since 2001, specialising in Seniors' travel. Their coffee is real, their tea is hot, and their famous ANZAC biscuits are homemade daily to Grandma's recipe!

Cruise with the Riverboat Postman Monday to Friday - morning tea and Ploughman's lunch included.

    The first Riverboat Postman started the run in 1910, and the tradition continues today. The skippers are locals who have lived in the area their whole lives - be entertained by the stories of the river whilst cruising in comfort up this spectacular waterway.

    They deliver to the settlements of Dangar Island, Kangaroo Point, Milson Island, Bar Point, Marlow Creek, Fisherman's Point and Milson's Passage before returning to Brooklyn in time for the train.

    The cruise departs daily every weekday (except Public Holidays) from the Brooklyn Public Wharf at 10am, returning at approximately 1:15pm.
