Barrenjoey to Narrabeen Lakes Walk
This great coastal walk passes through rugged natural headlands with views of the coast and serene Pittwater, secluded beaches and wetlands that feed into Narrabeen Lagoon. It's one section of the Great Coastal Walk, connecting Broken Bay in Sydney's north to Port Hacking in the south.
Walking times will vary depending on your fitness levels and whether you split it into smaller sections of five hours each. Starting at Barrenjoey Beach, the track climbs the magnificent Barrenjoey Headland to the historic lighthouse, with stunning views over Broken Bay and Pittwater. You'll also walk along some of Sydney's best beaches - Avalon, Bilgola, Newport, Bungan, Mona Vale, Warriewood and Narrabeen.
Don't miss a loop-walk in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Catch a ferry from Palm Beach wharf to Great Mackerel Beach and then follow a bush track that leads into the national park, passing Resolute and West Head beaches, before climbing to West Head Lookout and magnificent ocean and Pittwater views.
Public transport is readily available at regular intervals along the way.
