Food and fashion markets in Sydney

Markets in the Rocks, Sydney

Head to The Rocks Markets on weekends to enjoy a colourful market scene in the area's quaint cobblestone laneways. More than 200 stalls are packed with local prints, homewares, jewellery, leathergoods, arts and craft. Sample a wide range of Australian-made gourmet produce at The Rocks Foodies Market held every Friday which feature a wide range of tastebud delights, from Turkish gozleme to barbequed salmon, and gourmet sausages to mini cupcakes.

Paddy’s Markets at Haymarket (Wednesday - Sunday) and Flemington (Friday - Sunday) are Sydney’s original and biggest markets, with 1000 stalls between the two venues. You’ll find toys, CDs, novelty items, plants, clothing, accessories and souvenirs at hard-to-beat prices.

There’s a bit of everything at Rozelle Markets on weekends: clothing, food, homewares, handmade jewellery. Rozelle often has a larger share of vintage furniture, old homewares, second-hand books and vinyl records.

Expect a slightly younger vibe than other markets at Glebe Markets on Saturdays (the University of Sydney is just down the road), with T-shirts, jeans, music, vintage gear, crystals and candles part of the eclectic mix.

It’s not surprising that clothing and accessories are a strong element at Saturday's Paddington Markets in fashion-forward Oxford Street.  Passion and creativity is in the air. This is where Dinosaur Designs began and many a fashion career (Sass & Bide, Zimmerman) launched. Maybe you’ll spot the next big trend.

Visit Bondi Markets on a Sunday in the beachfront grounds of the local public school, and expect the market mix of handmade jewellery, arts, crafts, vintage and retro. Like Paddington, you'll notice a strong presence when it comes to original designer clothing that hasn’t yet made it into the big stores.

The Kirribilli Markets are held on the fourth Saturday and second Sunday of each month. More than 220 stalls showcase emerging local designers, home and giftware, arts, crafts and more, plus live entertainment and terrific harbour views.

  • Surry Hills, Sydney Markets

    Surry Hills Shopping

Another Sydney market to keep an eye out for is the Surry Hills Market, which is held at the corner of Crown Street and Collins Street on the first Saturday of every month. Specialising in second-hand, recycled and handmade goods, the Surry Hills Market is only a short distance from Oxford Street and the Sydney CBD.

  • Farmers Markets, Sydney Markets

    Carriageworks Farmers Market

Eveleigh Farmers' Markets is held every Saturday at CarriageWorks (near Redfern), and it's Sydney's favourite destination for food lovers. Drop by and sample the fresh, organically-grown produce and treats such as free-range bacon and egg rolls, steamed Chinese dumplings, freshly squeezed fruit juice, natural dairy products, chocolates and other goodies.

  • Shopping Manly, Sydney Markets

    Shopping on The Corso

Manly's Corso is where you'll find the best names in surf and beachwear. Check out Mambo, Heritage Surf, Billabong, Rip Curl, Surfection and Quiksilver or find something special at the weekend Manly Arts and Crafts Market or at one-off boutiques on side streets nearby.
