Fun and fascinating Sydney

Sydney is full of exciting and fun attractions for children: zoos and aquariums, beaches and parks, and interactive museums and amusement parks. By using Opal cards on public transport, you'll enjoy daily travel caps and the $2.50 per person Sunday cap. Take a ferry ride to Taronga Zoo for the seal show or to Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary to see little penguins.

  • WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo
  • Manly Ferry

Children - and their parents - will love Sydney's enticing attractions including parks and beachside reserves with lots of open space to run wild in. Zoos and aquariums, museums with dinosaurs and tall ships, amusement parks and thrilling adventures like indoor skydiving are all hit favourites.

Take a ferry at Circular Quay and cross Sydney Harbour to some of the city's top attractions, such as Luna Park, an amusement park, and Taronga Zoo, where you can watch Mali, Miya and Lexi, Australian Sea-lions, the rarest seals in the world, in a daily show.

In the city centre, the Sydney Tower Eye's outdoor SKYWALK will thrill children aged eight and older with its 360-degree views. At Darling Harbour, kids can get close to furry native animals, sharks and dugongs at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium

Join the kids aboard a replica sailing ship or explore a submarine together at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour. The Australian Museum, near Hyde Park, has lots of interactive displays for children, as well as 10 dinosaur skeletons and eight life-sized models.

In the historic Rocks is the Sydney Observatory, where children can explore the Universe in a 3D space theatre. Keep the kids active at Sydney Olympic Park, in Sydney's west, where they can learn a new skill at the Archery Centre, discover trapeze through Circus Arts and swim at the Aquatic Centre.

Horseriding is popular as well. Sydney's mild climate makes its beaches great fun all year. Join learn to surf schools at ManlyBondiMaroubra and Cronulla. For family shows and festivals, check out Sydney's exciting calendar of events. Tours are an enjoyable way to explore Sydney and beyond.
