Welsh-born photographer Rhys-John Davies is the creative force that drives Spookfish Photography. Having relocated to Sydney’s beautiful Eastern beaches four years ago, he is now bringing his portfolio of work to the world.
With a background in electronics, Rhys-John has always been involved with cameras in one form or another throughout his career. From this exposure to cameras on a daily basis; photography seemed to be a natural extension of his day job.
Having captured many of Wales’ beautiful valleys, landscape photography has since become Rhys-John’s preferred genre.
Moving to Australia and the Eastern suburbs has seen a shift in Rhys-John’s artistic style. “I took inspiration from the exceptional local photographers and expanded from landscape into coastal and seascape photography and more urban city photography”, he says.
Rhys-John’s interests lie in experimenting with new photographic techniques, while he finds his inspiration in Australia’s spectacular coastlines and natural environment.
With Sydney and NSW having so much to offer including beautiful beaches, national parklands and exceptional cities, Rhys-John aims to capture that beauty. “I hope people who look at my photographs get the same emotional connection that I had when I took them”, he adds.
Rhys-John’s recent venture is his recently launched website and online store Spookfish Photography which offers prints of his work in a variety of sizes and finishes.
