The National: New Australian Art, Art Gallery of NSW

Head to the Art Gallery of NSW to see the first of three biennial exhibitions showcasing contemporary Australian art. The National: New Australian Art will display newly commissioned works from a mix of emerging and established Australian artists. The artworks will span a wide range of media including paintings, sculptures, installations, videos and performances.

Each year, the Helpmann Awards recognise and celebrate those who have made significant contributions to Australia’s live performing arts scene. Named after actor and theatre director Sir Robert Helpmann, the awards cover a number of theatrical disciplines, from musical theatre and opera to comedy and cabaret. The ceremony will be held at Capitol Theatre and include show-stopping performances from the casts of My Fair Lady, The Book Of Mormon, Aladdin, and more.

Since 1921, the Archibald Prize exhibition has offered a slice of Australian pop culture as seen through the eyes of talented visual artists. The Archibald Prize is awarded for portrait painting, the Wynne Prize for landscapes and Australian scenery, while the Sulman Prize is given for best subject painting in oil, acrylic, watercolour or mixed media. Spend an afternoon at the Art Gallery of NSW and cast your vote for the ANZ People’s Choice Award.

This July, the Gunners are headed for ANZ Stadium to take on Sydney’s soccer superstars. See players like Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott take on Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in a brilliant display of skill. Arsenal is one of the the oldest football clubs in the world and has won 13 league titles in its history. Travelling far from their Highbury home, long-serving manager Arsene Wenger will lead the team as they take on Sydney Football Club in their first match on Australian soil in 40 years!
