Bingham Cup Sydney 2014 - The Gay Rugby World Cup
The Bingham Cup Sydney 2014 is the largest international sports tournament in Sydney in 2014. More than 25 competitive teams and thousands of players, supporters and visitors are expected to visit Sydney to participate.
Australia's first gay rugby team, the Sydney Convicts, will host the tournament, which is also sanctioned and supported by the International Gay Rugby Association Board and the Australian Rugby Union. The tournament will run from Friday 29 August to Sunday 31 August accompanied by a weeklong festival of events.
The Bingham Cup is named after Mark Bingham, a University of California and Berkeley rugby star, who was instrumental in the establishment of inclusive gay rugby union teams.
