Sydney South

Dramatic cliff tops that you can explore on foot, sprawling white beaches, lush rainforest and historic landmarks make this a fascinating part of Sydney to visit year-round. Beachside suburbs include Cronulla, Maroubra and Malabar. On the edge of Royal National Park, you’ll also find Bundeena, just a short ferry ride from Cronulla. Mascot is home to Sydney International Airport as well as excellent factory-outlet shopping.

In the Sutherland Shire, Cronulla Beach is one of Sydney’s icons and an ideal place for a short getaway. Alongside the extensive stretch of sand is a buzzing cafe and restaurant scene, perfect for a hot coffee or leisurely lunch.

La Perouse is where French explorer Comte de la Perouse arrived in 1788. Visit La Perouse Museum to learn about the area’s local history. The museum is also a visitor’s centre with lots of information to help you explore the area.

In the cooler months, check out Sydney South’s delicious food and wine scene, or hop on board one of the area’s many tours. Shoppers will love the monthly Bundeena Markets, which have plenty of souvenirs, crafts and more to catch your eye.

Away from the coast, Mascot is an excellent option for short-stay accommodation near the airport for your stopover in Sydney. You can hire a car or take a scenic flight during your stay here.
