The beachside suburbs of Sydney’s far north are known as the Northern Beaches are some of the best in Sydney.
Stretching north of Manly all the way to Palm Beach, this is the land of surf, sun and sand. The first world surfing championship was held at Manly’s Freshwater Beach in 1964, and the surf culture is still going strong, with many key surfing events taking place here.
Manly Beach is the most famous of the Northern Beaches, and there are plenty of Manly events to check out. From surfing competitions, to volleyball comps, to food and wine festivals, there’s something for everyone at Manly Beach. There’s also the weekly farmers’ markets (Wednesdays and Saturdays), the annual Manly International Jazz Festival, and home games for local rugby league team the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.
