The State Library of NSW is a unique cultural institution with an amazing history and internationally renowned collection.
Visit the Library and experience the beautiful architecture of the Mitchell Library and Shakespeare Room, enjoy the vibrant public events program or relax in the cafe.
You'll be surprised by this haven in the middle of the city and all it has to offer including; free movie screenings, free volunteer-led history and heritage tours every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30am, special events and talks by authors, celebrities and historians, the Library Shop - Sydney's premier Australiana bookshop, specialising in books, souvenirs and gifts.
The Library runs school holiday activities for children and parents, has a Family History and newspaper service (including regional and international press).
Why not use the free internet and wireless internet access or stop for breakfast or lunch at Cafe Trim which is open seven days a week.
Opening times
9am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm Friday, 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday (The Mitchell Library Reading Room is closed on Sundays).
