The National Opal Collection is a showroom and sales centre for one of Australia’s largest collections of opals and opal jewellery. You’ll find beautiful black opals, white opals and boulder opals in the store in Sydney’s city centre, near Circular Quay.
Open seven days a week, the National Opal Collection is an excellent place to pick up a souvenir or a collector's item. The centre also houses an impressive private museum that tells the story of how opals are formed and mined.
Entry is free to the private museum. Audio visual aids provide information in four different languages and an auditorium is available for group presentations. Australia produces more than 90 percent of the world’s precious opals.
The National Opal Collection is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm, and Saturday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. On Good Friday, the centre is open for tour reservations only.
