Cheap Hostel Accommodation in Sydney

Lugging a backpack into an unfamiliar city can be tough, especially if you're not sure where to stay. The good news is, you'll find fun, clean and affordable hostel and backpacker accommodation all over Sydney, whether you need to crash for a night or a month.

It's no secret that many newcomers to Sydney head straight to Kings Cross, Sydney's bightclub and bar district. If you're seeking a party vibe, Darlinghurst Road's hostel options are a no-brainer, but there are also quieter hostels in the side streets. You'll also find cool cafes and cheap backpacker options in huge terrace mansions in Potts Point's leafy Victoria Street, parallel to Darlinghurst Road.

In the centre of Sydney's CBD hostel accommodation is dotted all along the main artery of George Street, which stretches from Ultimo to Circular Quay. Backpackers can also stay in heritage buildings around Chinatown's Haymarket, and next to Central Station, which is well-placed to shops, cafes and bars.

Beach and surf worshippers will find a range of hostel accommodation by the beaches, too, whether you're heading to iconic Bondi and Coogee, or crossing the Harbour Bridge into the Northern Beaches. Under an hour from town, Manly and Collaroy both have great budget accommodation on offer.
