White Sands Walk

Fast facts

  • Short but sensational stroll along pearl-white beaches, surrounded by Jervis Bay National Park.
  • Greenfields Beach to Hyams Beach, South Coast.
  • 2 km

Why walk it

Jervis Bay is one of the coastal treasures of New South Wales, a chain of dazzling beaches strung around the vast bay boarded by parks and bushland. White Sands Walk starts at a boardwalk on Greenfields Beach, just south of Vincentia, crosses a creek and winds south along the bay. Interpretive signs along the track point out significant features of the bay.

The walk ends at the small village of Hyams Beach, the style capital of Jervis Bay, and a salty holiday haven for Sydneysiders. At the end of the walk, you can either return the same way or make this into a circuit walk by taking the Scribbly Gum Track back to Greenfields Beach.

Along the way

Observe the rock platforms at Greenfields Beach, which have been scoured and sculpted by high velocity waves generated by the "Tura" tsunami thousands of years ago.

Take bathers and a towel – you’ll want at least one dip here.

Watch for dolphins, which often come close inshore.

Don’t miss

  • The world’s whitest sand between your toes at Hyams Beach.
  • Finger-licking food from the Hyams Beach Store.
  • A sea kayak tour with the Jervis Bay Kayak Company.
  • Muffins at Supply in Huskisson, fresh and warm every morning.
  • The wildflower-lined walking tracks of Booderee National Park.
