Biame, based at Hunter Valley Gardens in Pokolbin, sells authentic traditional and contemporary arts and crafts made by Aboriginal artists from across Australia.
Stock up on bush tucker items, including spices, salts and preserves.
Biame also runs cultural programs for groups of 10 or more, including storytelling, an artefacts tour, a look at traditional arts and crafts, and bushtucker.
There are guided tours in nearby Wollemi National Park, the site of the famous Wollemi Pine – a relic from the age of the dinosaurs.
In local Aboriginal legend, Biame was the supreme being who created the world. He is part human and part wallaby. In a rock cave on Bulgar Creek near Singleton in the Hunter Valley, Biame is depicted in a large drawing with his legs and arms lying on the ground. The perpendicular lines drawn under the arms, three on right and four on the left, represent the seven Aboriginal clans of the region.
